Tetris Couldn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category May Address This Issue

As any major prize-giving event approaches, one notices an outcry for introducing fresh award types to honor underappreciated efforts and satisfy the spirits of followers who have specialized interests.

My colleague made the case supporting a scary games classification. It would be amazing. Equally deserving are board games, representing someone's personal cause. But they will have to forgive me when I prioritize since similar to blinkered fanatics, I have a cast-iron argument for why my demand stands as crucial and significant. This is the request: There should be a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Classifying creative works defies precise measurement; opinions vary greatly, and typically start arguments concluding with vague boundaries. There’s a reason cinema institutions steer clear of genre categories. But it is a necessary evil for the industry of interactive entertainment, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to be recognized, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Present Award Structure

Prominent interactive entertainment events currently feature genre categories for Action, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Between them, these award types successfully include a lot of ground, allowing placement for most games within them.

Different situation exists for brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Think about these this year’s best games, all very different: building puzzles in a particular game, the pulse-pounding block-matching of another game, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. Where could they possibly go among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.

The Representation Problem

Many instances occur of brilliant puzzle games released every year that have no home in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match award groups including Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, or the intensely contested small studio competitions.

  • One classic puzzle game wasn’t nominated in any category that year
  • Another imaginative release missed out that year
  • Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment that year
  • Just some logic titles managed to sneak into independent or mobile categories

Significance of Puzzle Games

These are often modest productions, yet the craft behind logic titles is of massive significance. Well-known matching games count as most popular titles in the world continuing this trend for many years.

The iconic tile-matching title challenges popular creative games for the title of most purchased experience; it also contends for top gaming experience. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks to the art of video games, while interacting with almost every other genre.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter such difficulty. One could readily select five nominees interesting, varied, worthy titles each ceremony simply — actually, with challenge, because you’d have to leave so many good games out.

Restating the point, these represent titles that otherwise have no home in important events. Logic title developers function at the hard edge game development, creating some of the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Similar to movie stunt professionals, they warrant appreciation. Don't make them wait 35 years.
